South Africa reported until this Monday a total of 692,471 Covid-19 cases, some 1,575 of which were detected in the last 24 hours.

Some 50,926 cases of the disease are currently treated in hospitals or at home, Health Minister Zwelini Mkhize said.

Since the previous report, 107 other Covid-19-related deaths were reported, Mkhize stated.

Although South Africa has the 11th highest number of Covid-19 infections globally, it ranks 28th in terms of relative death rate per population.

Some 623,765 patients were recovered from the disease in the country, so the recovery rate is 90%. This figure has been stable for weeks.
