The umbrella crooner recently just bagged a deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing which would cover the pop superstars present songwriting catalog and her future works. Not only does the deal give her a publishing cover, but it has also re-united her with Jon Platt, the music executive who ran her former publisher Warner Chapell Music. The Barbados Born star who has recently ventured into fashion with prominent fashion lines like Fenty and the Savage collection has hushed fans who were speculating that her music career was going to give way to her fashion career by signing this deal which spans over her 14 years catalog all the way from “Umbrella” down to “work” continuing into whatever future hit songs she would produce.
Being the world’s richest female musician Rihanna has in the past worked with top Music acts like Jay-Z, Eminem, Nicki Minaj and a host of others while winning 9 Grammys. And working with Sony/ATV which is home to a lo more than 2 million copyrights including The Beatles, Taylor Swift, and Sia is sure a big win for both parties.
Plat who was elated to be working with her again told newsmen that he was proud to have known Rihanna since the beginning o her career stating that, “Music, Fashion, Philanthropy and a heart of gold have solidified Rihanna’s position as one of the biggest icons in the world. It is an honor to be reunited with her at Sony/ATV”.
The publishing deal came after Rihanna’s critically acclaimed Savage x Fenty fashion show was held at the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in conjunction with her annual Diamond Ball. Platt and a lot of Sony/ATV executives were present to grace the occasion.
