India reports almost 80,000 deaths from Covid-19

New Delhi, Sep 14 (Prensa Latina) Covid-19 positive cases increased in India to 4. 846,427 while deaths due to the pandemic already amount to 79,722.

India remains the second nation in the world with more inhabitants infected with the new coronavirus, after the United States.

The country registered another 92,000 new infections and 1,136 deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, more than 70 percent of deaths in India occurred due to comorbidities.

Meanwhile, more than 3.780 000 people were clinically discharged in the country, raising the national recovery rate of patients from Covid-19 to 78 percent. The death rate from the current pandemic dropped to 1.64 percent. There are 986,598 active cases of the dangerous infection in the country, according to health authorities.

India surpassed the two million cases of the dreaded contagious disease on August 7, then surpassed three million on August 23, and on September 5 exceeded four million people infected.

More than 57 million samples were analyzed so far in the country’s accredited laboratories to detect the presence of the virus.
