Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Public Health informed on Friday about 671 new Covid-19 cases, and the number of infections since the onset of the pandemic rose to 146,680.
As for the deaths, eight were reported in the last 24 hours, which brought the fatality rate to 1.60 and the death toll amounted to 2,343.
Likewise, there are 28,168 active cases in the country, 116,169 recoveries from Covid-19 and 591,476 have been tested negative for carrying the novel coronavirus’ pathogen.
Admissions to hospitals for Covid-19 represented 28 percent, while those cases requiring Intensive Care Units were 38 percent.
Health authorities noted on Friday that 65 percent of active cases are asymptomatic, so they called for strict prevention measures, such as the use of facemasks, physical distancing and constant hand washing with soap and water.
