A$ap Rocky has been released from jail. The New York-born rapper regained freedom for the first time since over a month. Rocky and his two other friends will now wait till 14th August for the final ruling of the judge in the assault case against them.

The 30-year-old Harlem rapper arrived in the United States from Sweden in a private jet around the midnight of Friday. He had pleaded not guilty to charges of assault brought against him and his companions.

It has been a long week of trial for Rocky, Bladimir Corniel and David Rippers. The three were involved in a brawl with 19-year-old Jafari near the Max Burger chain two months ago. Rocky and his companions claim to have acted in self-defence. They said that contrary to the boy’s claim, he was the one that first attacked the rapper’s entourage and that they were forced to act under panic.

The rapper shared some clips of the incident on his social media platform but there is footage of his security details rough handling the boy.

The prosecution counsel proposed a jail time of six months as against the usual two years term but the defence counsel argued in favour of community service.

The judge finally ruled on Saturday that Rocky and his accused associates be granted bail and allowed to return to the United States of America pending the final ruling on the 14th of this month. The rapper seems to have a good chance of being acquitted but in the event where he is found guilty, he might have to spend some jail time in Sweden.

He was said to be in a very happy and jovial mood on his arrival at the airport with fans coming out to meet him. He laughed and made jokes at his own expense.

The rapper took to social media to profusely thank his fans and supporters. It worth noting that President Trump showed a lot of interest in getting him freed. The president was one of the public figures that announced his return on his social media handle.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my fans, friends and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks,” a part of the statement read. “I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am for all of you this has been a very difficult and humbling experience I want to thank the court for allowing me Blade and Photo to return to our family and friends thanks again for all of the love and support.”

The Rapper had a lot of support while he awaited his trial for the assault charges he faces in Sweden. Most notably, Donald Trump had his back, as the president expressed disappointment at the situation, and special envoy for hostage affairs Robert O’Brien reportedly sent a letter to the Swedish government, warning the country that there would be “negative consequences” if Rocky wasn’t released from prison.
