‘Toast’ Gets Jamaican Artiste Koffee Certified Silver in The UK


Toast became an almost hit when the song was released. And even though it had potentials of being a mega-hit, not many would have been able to predict the current success it has achieved with accuracy and certainty. Koffee’s song has sold over 200,000 copies in the UK while earning her a silver certification as a result.

The certification was made in December by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The BPI has the duty of issuing certifications for singles and albums in the UK.

None lesser than the president of Columbia Records, Ferdy Under-Hamilton confirmed the news during his interview with the Jamaican Observer a few days ago.

He was amazed at Kofee’s achievements and pointed out the wide acceptance that the young sensation has gained. “It’s amazing what Toast has achieved; it has really put Koffee on the map. ” He said. She noted her astronomical rise within the period of a year stating that:” If you look closely on what Koffee has done in just over a year you will see that her fans love everything she does. This is really just the beginning for Koffee. ”

He noted that Columbia Records were proud to be associated with the Jamaican star, “Columbia Records feels privileged to work with Koffee. She is a once in a generation artist.”

At just 19 years of age, the young star topped the Reggae album chart in March of last year with the release of her debut album Rapture. The project was jointly released by promise land recording and Columbia Records. It has spent 42 weeks on the charts and sold 4000 copies in the United States of America.

The toast was very successful in Britain peaking very high on a lot of charts. It peaked at number 70 on the British charts for official singles. She did a collaboration with American rapper Gunna which was also on the chart.

It was different strokes for Toast on the Reggae Digital song sale charts and the R&B /Hip – Hop Airplay charts. It topped the chart on the former while lagging at number 37 on the later.

She released her debut album Rapture as a follow up to Toast and it peaked at number two on the Reggae Digital song sales charts.

Apart from being a commercial success, the album has been nominated for the best Best Reggae Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards, taking place on the 26th of January in Los Angeles, California.

The Coachella will be having a taste of Koffee. She will be performing at the Coachella Valley Music and arts festival in California on two of the days – 10th and 17th of April.

She is going to be one the opening acts for her label mate and member of the defunct one direction music group Harry Styles when he tours later in the year.

With the trajectory that her young career is taking one can be certain that Koffee is destined for greater things.
