It will be recalled that Nimora founded the Baby Phat brand in 1999. However, the parent company of the label was acquired by Kellwood company for $140 million. In a recent turn of events, Kimora personally acquired back the once popular brand that she created about two decades ago.

Kimora who is a renowned designer, model and entrepreneur announced that she has acquired the brand on the event of the International Women’s day. However, she did not disclose the price she paid to gain full control of the brand she founded.

However, she hinted that after the brand relaunches in the summer, it will refocus on mainstream sportswear for millennials. Moreover, she said the price tag of the brand will align towards the mid-tier.

Kimora hinted that she will leverage her amazing personal archive to create the collection which will feature new looks and a couple of “retro” elements.

She said she was inspired by her two teenage daughters Ming and Aoki to bring back the brand. Kimora affirmed that this is the perfect timing to bring back the brand.
